Women’s ski jumping is not yet at the level of men. So that this changes, there is now a new campaign.
The ski jumpers are still fighting for what the men have long ago (you can read more about the details here). That is why the German ski jumpers around world champion Katharina Schmid focus on an important topic at the home world cup with the “#shespringen” campaign at the weekend. Together with the Children’s Rights Organization Plan International and the German Ski Association (DSV), they are committed to more visibility and the same opportunities in ski jumping.
Plan ambassador Schmid says: “The campaign supports us on our way and gives us more reach. We don’t want to take anything away from the men, but just equal opportunities. That is why we continue to fight for a four-hill tour because we are as much attention as the men have earned. “
It was originally planned that the campaign will accompany the athletes on their way to the first fourth tour for women. However, this will now take place in the 2026/27 season at the earliest. Most recently, team world champion Selina Freitag also caused discussions with her criticism of the unequal premiums between men and women. She got shower gel while the men received money. DSV sports director Horst Hüttel emphasizes: “The topics of tolerance and equal opportunities for both genders have to be hung higher. With Plan International we have found a partner who also represents these values.” Most recently, Hüttel T-Online said in relation to a four-hill tour for women: “You are on the right track, but you should make sure that you will bring this complete solution to implement in the next one to two years.”
