The police suspect that at least three suspects of the art robbery will be in the Drents Museum from the province of Noord-Holland. The authority announced this on Tuesday in the television program Investigation Requested. There was also a stolen Volkswagen Golf, who found the police burned out near the museum. According to the police, the Volkswagen was parked from Thursday to the moment of the robbery at an unknown location in the Northern Netherlands. The police hope to find out where the car was parked through witnesses. Possibly there is also a dark -colored Ford Transit used for the robbery.

In the meantime, the robbery has also led to the dismissal of the director of the National Historical Museum in Bucharest, which lent the museum pieces to the Drents Museum. The director would not have properly protected the National Romanian heritage by the lending to the museum in Assen. Romania is investigating whether the damage at the Drents Museum can be recovered because the security would have been insufficient.
