With the title at the U17 World Cup, the German team awakened high hopes at the end of 2023. T-online explains what has become of the four Bavarian promise of the future.
In December 2023, the German U17 national team sparked great expectations with winning the World Cup title in German football. The next golden generation finally seemed with her. With Robert Ramsak, Maximilian Hennig, Max Schmitt and Kurt Rüger, four talents from FC Bayern were part of the world championship team.
Sauer even then warned: “The transition from the youngsters to the professionals only succeed if the players in the men’s area also regularly get game practice at a high level.” This is the only way to integrate the talents of this golden U17 year into the U21 and the A national team. “Actually, none of these players can continue to play in the U19 for a long time. Every club must have the courage to promote these boys directly in the men’s area.”
Aleksandar Pavlović (20) and Jamal Musiala (21) have recently impressively demonstrated how well it can be done and how much this can pay off for the club. Both have long since become firm sizes not only at Bavaria, but also in the A national team.
Bayern were particularly proud that their four U17 world champions “are all Münchner or come from Bavaria”, as Sauer said. “These are four boys who fit exactly in the profile with the regionality that we want to train. Of course we would be happy if one or the other makes the leap to the professional with us – and not somewhere else.” T-online explains where the four top talents are in their development almost a year after the big World Cup triumph.
Robert Ramsak: From a Bavarian point of view, it is the first big disappointment. The offensive player, who was already compared to Thomas Müller due to his unorthodox playing style, decided last summer against a contract extension at Bavaria. And instead for a transfer -free move to RB Leipzig.
A slap in the face for the record champion. Ramsak is now playing in the U19 in Leipzig this season and scored four goals in twelve league games. At least two templates came in six games in the Youth League. The 18-year-old is still waiting for his first assignment with the professionals. Finally, he made it into the Bundesliga squad twice.
Maximilian Hennig: The left -back was borrowed from Unterhaching for one year in summer. There he is used regularly and collects game practice in the third division.
In twelve games he delivered two templates. However, Hennig also heads for relegation with Unterhaching as a table. This would undoubtedly be a bitter experience in the still young career of the U17 world champion.
Kurt Rüger: The central midfielder has been part of the second team of Bavaria since summer and plays there in the regional league.
