Belgium already bought illegal wood from Russia for 15 million euros since raid in Ukraine

Since the raid in Ukraine, Russia has illegally carried out half a million cubic meters of wood to Europe, good for 1.5 billion euros. Of these, 142 truck loads Berkenhout – almost 5,000 cubic meters – came to Belgium. That smuggling has a sales value of 14.8 million euros, reports ‘De Tijd’ today on the basis of research by the British NGO Earthsight.
