Rhineland-Palatinate invests more money in sport. The focus is on, among other things, that children learn to swim.

The Rhineland-Palatinate Sport is supported in the current calendar year with 21.54 million euros. This was announced by the Ministry of the Interior in Mainz. The State Sports Association of Rhineland-Palatinate (LSB) is intended to use these funds for a wide range of measures and projects in the club, width and competitive sports, said sports minister Michael Ebling. Overall, the funding is 39.7 million euros.

This is intended to inspire even more people in Rhineland-Palatinate and to further develop the possibilities that sport has to offer, it said. The 21.54 million euros are intended to benefit from various associations and club projects and numerous athletes as well as cushioning personnel and material costs of the State Sports Association and the regional sports associations, said Ebling.

The LSB funds for project funding were raised to around 13.62 million euros. In the future, this will be even more financially supported by the toddler swimming, projects for social participation in sports and training and further training for instructors. The total amount of sports funding has been steadily increased from 34.5 million euros since 2020 and is to exceed the 40 million-euro limit for the first time in 2026.
