After a long career with seasons as a great protagonist also in Serie A, the time has come to say enough. With a touching letter published on his Instagram profile, Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Caputo officially communicated his farewell to football. The news was already in the air, considering the six months spent from his latest adventure on the field, and now the confirmation of the person concerned has also arrived. He greets and thanks everyone, certainly not in the way he would have desired and dreamed of to conclude a splendid career, but the former striker seems to be determined to travel a new way now.

Over 500 appearances between Serie A and Serie B, 186 goals in the two maximum categories of Italian footballand a story that made him heroic above all with the shirts of Bari, Empoli and Sassuolo. Just in Empoli, after a parenthesis to Sampdoria, he had returned in the last two seasons with the aim of helping the team to obtain salvation. “Hello everyone, here we are. Honestly, I would have liked to make this speech in a different way, perhaps greeting you with a goal and my exultation that has united us so much, but life sometimes leads us to make choices that mature within us Slowly.

Thanks to those who supported me and also to those who criticized me: because it is precisely from the criticisms that I found the strength to improve myself, to go beyond my limits. I thank the companies, the presidents, the directors, the managers, the coaches, staff and my teammates. To all of you who work behind the scenes and you made every stage of my trip special: to all the fans of the teams in which I played: thanks for welcoming me, supported and spurred. A special thanks to my prosecutor, my lawyer and the faithful management for having always been by my side, and to continue believing in me even today, while I prepare to write this new chapter.

And then, the most important thanks: to my family. To my wife, to my three children, who are my refuge, my strength, my biggest motivation. Thank you for always being there, in beautiful and more difficult moments, for supporting me and for never leaving me alone in this long journey. Today I close an important chapter of my life, but I open a new one with the same determination and the desire to get involved.
