The writing process
Törmä says that songs are often written with a large group in so-called co-writing sessions.
– There is possibly an artist involved, different song creators, one who maybe does the production part and a couple of guys who are more responsible for the text and melody.
The artist may have wishes, what type of song he wants or what topics the song is about.
– First we drink coffee for an hour and discuss what to do. Then we start scratching and messing around in the dark, and try to hit a spot that would give us a feeling, Törmä describes the writing process.
However, it is not a given that a big hit song will be born every time.
– Most of the things that are done never seem to succeed. It’s not like you just go into a room and suddenly a masterpiece emerges.
You have to make a lot of songs to include hits.

Lyricist’s salary
Törmä has been making a living as a lyricist for years.
He has been awarded the Juha Vainio award in 2022 and in 2023 he received Teosto’s Musician of the Year award.
Törmä’s career includes numerous hit songs, the most meaningful of which is a song released almost 15 years ago.
