The misconduct of his mother Rachel Hazes may be one blessing in disguise for André Hazes Jr., because his popularity is on the rise. “But he still has to learn how to dose.”
During her time as a juice queen, Yvonne Coldeweijer made André Hazes Jr. the most talked about star in our country, but also the star that irritated people en masse. He has now recovered nicely: Yvonne is in juice retirement, André is behaving relatively normally again and, moreover, there is now a common enemy.

Not only André, but also the rest of the country is diametrically opposed to his bizarre mother Rachel Hazes and that creates a bond. Even Angela de Jong now finds him somewhat enjoyable again. She saw the interview with André on Shownieuws last week and noticed that she was hardly annoyed by him.
Angela tells in the AD Media Podcast: “I have criticized him quite a few times in my columns in recent years, André Hazes Jr., and all the fuss with his mother and how he always sought attention and such. I now saw a boy sitting there who has grown up and I think has his priorities in order.”
Weird mother
It also seems as if André realizes what he actually has because of all those private problems, says Angela. “He realizes how lucky he is to have Monique next to him, who is a lot more mature than that weird mother of his.”
That boy has certainly come down to earth again, she thinks. “I had a hard time with it when that docuseries came about his withdrawal and so on. He is now well on his way and I am now confident that if he maintains his life like this, he will succeed.”
Jisketfet
Colleague Gudo Tienhooven thought the Shownieuws interview with André, conducted by Evert Santegoeds, was absurd. “It was like fucking analyzing an interview with Netanyahu. It was over Jiskefet and I watched it with a big grin.”
Angela: “’Special’. I think they said eighty times how special the interview was.”
Gudo: “Especially Tooske. She really thought it was… It affected her so much!”
Angela cynically: “Her mother’s heart! It’s really special how Evert did that, isn’t it? Truly master interviewer Evert.”
Overkill
Evert didn’t have the real news, Angela sneers. “The news that he didn’t have – and I was disappointed about that, because we had that on the site the next day from Fernando Holman’s podcast – was that André and Monique have parked their desire to have children. That was a bit disappointing to me.”
By the way, Angela warns the folk singer about overkill after those two interviews. “That’s also something I have a bit of trouble with: it’s always so much with the Hazes family. It is never one interview, everything comes to you at once from all sides. He still has to learn to dose that a bit, I think.”
