Fourth win in a row: Real Madrid also won against bottom team Real Valladolid in the Spanish La Liga. Man of the match was Kylian Mbappé. The Royals thus extended their lead over city rivals Atlético.
In Valladolid, the leaders won 3-0 (1-0) and celebrated their fourth league win in a row. Mbappé scored his first hat-trick in a Real Madrid jersey.
19 league games, 15 goals – the quota is right for Mbappé
With a dominant performance, Real needed a few chances to take the lead. Mbappé then got this after a nice one-two with Jude Bellingham with an ice-cold finish into the bottom right corner (30th). The 26-year-old also scored his next goal there in the much weaker second half (57th).
Shortly before the end, Valladolid’s defender Mario Martín cleared Jude Bellingham in the penalty area and was shown a yellow-red card. Mbappé safely converted the penalty (90th + 1). The Frenchman only scored a brace in the 4-1 win against Las Palmas. After 19 league games he now has 15 goals.
Atlético only plays a draw
Champions Real (49) are now four points ahead of Atlético Madrid, who only managed a 1-1 draw against Villarreal FC in their own stadium. Villarrel led until the second half after Gerard Moreno converted a penalty (29′) before Samuel Lino equalized for Atlético.
Third in the table is FC Barcelona. Coach Hans-Dieter Flick’s team can move within seven points of Real Madrid with a win against FC Valencia on Sunday evening (9 p.m.).
