Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji still has a contract until June 2023. But there is currently no sign of a contract extension. Rather after a change – possibly also within the league.
Manuel Akanji has been under contract with Borussia Dortmund since 2018. During this time he has established himself as a regular player and top performer. But the central defender’s contract expires in the summer of next year. And it doesn’t currently look like there will be a contract extension. The “WAZ” and the “Ruhr Nachrichten” report this in unison. The latter newspaper writes that BVB’s upper limit would be eight million euros a year for Akanji. This is probably not enough for the player. A transfer is therefore the most likely option in order not to have to let the Swiss go free of charge. Possibly also within the league.
As “Transfermarkt” reports, FC Bayern Munich should be interested in the defender. Especially since with Niklas Süle a defender is leaving the record champions and will switch to Dortmund.
The rumored transfer fee should be at least 30 million euros. There should be competition from England.
