The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 2, 2025 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Entertainer Conan O’Brien will moderate the event for the first time.
Due to devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, nominations, originally scheduled for January 17th, have been postponed to January 23rd. The announcement was made by Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The nominations of “Emilia Pérez” are notable this year. The 13 nominations for the musical thriller are a record for a non-English language film. The German production “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” has been nominated for an Oscar for best international film. The film was made by the Iranian Mohammad Rasoulof, who lives in exile in Germany. The German-produced film “September 5” could also win a golden boy. It received a nomination in the Best Original Screenplay category.
