There hasn’t been much sunshine lately. Weerplaza measures the number of hours of sunshine in Brabant using three measuring points. They are located in Eindhoven, Volkel and Gilze. Only in Eindhoven did the sun shine briefly in the past eight days: on Wednesday for twelve minutes and on Tuesday for about 45 minutes. “That is all the sunshine that Brabant has had in the past eight days,” says Wilfred Janssen of Weerplaza.

But Janssen also had good news on Thursday morning, in the radio program KEIgoeiemorgen on Omroep Brabant.

Because on Thursday we can see some sun in most places in the province. “I have good hope that we can gather one to one and a half hours of sunshine. So if you see something in the sky and think: ‘ooh, that’s bright to look at’: that is the sun!”

The day started quite well. Around eleven o’clock on Thursday morning, the measuring points Eindhoven and Gilze had already measured twelve minutes of sunshine and weather station Volkel ‘preferably’ twenty minutes. “We also have a measuring station in Woensdrecht, but it does not measure sunshine.”

“We can’t enjoy the sunshine for long.”

If the sun breaks through further during the day, we will also notice this in the temperature. “For the first time in quite a few days, it is no longer freezing anywhere. The temperature is rising to seven degrees.” There are also some showers coming, but Janssen expects us to have reasonable weather until mid-afternoon.

But at the end of the afternoon we can wave goodbye to the sun again, then the clouds will increase again. It will rain heavily, especially in the evening. “Sometimes those showers can be quite tough. Perhaps a thunderstorm could occur in the occasional shower. So we can’t enjoy the sunshine for long. The wind can also blow quite a bit.”

“On Sunday we have the best chance of seeing the sun again for some time.”

This variability will continue in the coming days and we will also have a lot of clouds on Friday. “Particularly in the morning hours, rain falls in many places for quite some time. In the west of the province we may occasionally get heavy gusts of wind, with speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour.”

It will be dry again and a bit warmer on Friday, but sun, whatever. According to Janssen, Saturday still does not look very hopeful, with rain again for some time, especially in the morning.

The first chance we may see that popular copper cad again is Sunday. Then it will be dry with little wind and who knows, a ray of sunshine.
