Corona incidence in Berlin hardly changed – more than 6900 new cases registered

The corona incidence in Berlin has hardly changed compared to the previous day. The reading was 692.3 on Thursday, according to the Senate situation report. 24 hours earlier it was 687.7.

The incidence indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been shown to have been newly infected with the corona virus in the past seven days.

6946 new corona infections (previous day: 625) were registered in Berlin on Thursday. The total number is 782,193. There were seven other deaths. 4,288 people have died in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic from or with the disease caused by the pathogen.

But not all cases count anymore

The federal government’s new test strategy has been in effect since February 12. The following applies: Anyone who wants to have a free PCR test done can only do so if an antigen rapid test previously carried out by a test center was positive.

Anyone who has a red warning in the Corona-Warn-App or has carried out a test with a positive result at home is no longer entitled to a free PCR test. But only PCR tests are included in the statistics.

The situation in the districts

With the exception of Lichtenberg, all districts reported new cases on Thursday. Most new infections were registered in Pankow (+1061). This is followed by Steglitz-Zehlendorf (+839) and Mitte (+786).

► With the seven-day incidence, all districts are below the 1000 mark: Marzahn-Hellersdorf has the highest incidence with 899.8 (previous day: 1029.6), followed by Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (849.2) and Pankow ( 823.4).

Lichtenberg has the lowest incidence with 369.5.

The status of vaccinations

77.5 percent (previous day: 77.5) of Berliners have been vaccinated at least once. 73.2 percent (previous day: 73.1) have the basic immunization or are fully vaccinated. 58.5 percent (previous day: 58.4) have received a booster vaccination or have been boosted.

The Corona traffic light

In order to include a more meaningful indicator in the Corona traffic light, the relative change in the seven-day incidence was replaced by the hospitalization incidence. The seven-day incidence and the occupancy of the intensive care beds remain unchanged.

According to the management report, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – equivalent to the seven-day incidence for all of Berlin – is 692.3 (previous day: 687.7) – the traffic light is RED.

The seven-day hospitalization incidence is 15.0 (previous day: 11.1) – the traffic light is RED.

This indicator shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized after a corona infection within a week. The indicator is green when the value is below 4. From 4 the traffic light switches to yellow, at 8 to red.

The utilization of the intensive care beds by corona patients is 11 percent (previous day: 10.6 percent) – the traffic light is YELLOW.

The yellow limit here is 5 percent, and this traffic light also turns red at 20 percent.
