The direction should already be in place – “Deadpool & Wolverine” maker Shawn Levy will probably take over the filming.
Hey girl: Ryan Gosling may have found his next film project. According to industry insiders, the “Barbie” and “La La Land” star is currently in negotiations for a new “Star Wars” film. This will tell an independent story and will be directed by Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum,” “Deadpool & Wolverine”).
Not a Skywalker story
The information about the sci-fi epic in the making comes from “Variety” and “The Hollywood Reporter”. They also report that the work does not yet have a title, but it is already clear that they are moving away from the Skywalker story completely.
Although there is no further cast news besides Gosling, the screenwriter and production company have already been found. Jonathan Tropper is responsible for writing – director Levy is familiar with works such as “Seven Damned Long Days” and “The Adam Project”. And the production is supposedly by Levy’s team at 21 Laps, in cooperation with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy.
“Star Wars” idea in planning since 2022
According to “The Hollywood Reporter”, planning for the film has been underway since 2022. However, it has not yet been revealed in which time or in which setting the new “Star Wars” story will take place. Neither is a possible release date.
For Gosling it would be the first franchise in his career.
