The arrival of Glennis Grace represents an enormous risk for Today Inside, says Victor Vlam. According to the VI expert, this is a misstep. “I actually think it’s an extremely bad idea.”

Johan Derksen is so annoyed by the column in which Angela de Jong more or less calls on TV makers not to invite Glennis Grace anywhere anymore, that he wants to welcome the singer with open arms in Today Inside. The singer of Whitney Houston songs is sitting on the bar stool on Friday evening and that is awkward, according to VI expert Victor Vlam.

Extremely bad idea

The supporters of Today Inside are vomiting on Glennis, so the chance of further damage to the image is very high. But not just for her, says Victor. Also for the program. “The question is: is it wise to invite Glennis Grace? It may be wise for her to go, but whether it is wise for VI to invite her…”

“Yes, I very much doubt that,” he says in the podcast The Communicados. “In fact, I actually think it’s an extremely bad idea. Somehow I understand the idea that it is a high-profile guest and therefore high-profile television. I am curious, but on the other hand: I don’t think it will lead to very interesting things.”

Massive criticism

Victor thinks that VI fans will be massively disappointed. “I think there will be massive criticism for VI. Massive criticism. Patty Brard also thought: I am going to rehabilitate Glennis Grace. The reactions to this were overwhelmingly negative. On her own socials you see that many followers say: this is not what I want, I am not looking forward to this, I don’t like this.”

Glennis’ arrival at Patty’s party in the Ziggo Dome was very poorly received by her fans. “I think it will also happen at Today Inside. It’s just not going to be a crowd pleaser. It has everything to do with the fact that Glennis is very much convinced that it is not her fault, but that the media has been far too harsh on her.”

Victim role

Glennis recently repeated this at Ranking the Stars. “She has said that time and time again and there are many people who think differently. They say: ‘You stormed into a Jumbo with a gang of thugs and beat people up there. You were not treated too harshly by the media, but were simply responsible for your own cancellation.’”

Co-host Lars Duursma, the communications expert whose girlfriend has suddenly disappeared, said: “Yes, but she is still very much stuck in her own victim role, like: this has all happened to me, I have been wronged, people are too hard for been me. And that makes her less interesting for an interview.”

Two reasons

So don’t do it, Victor decides. “You know a lot of people are going to say: why did you invite her, Today Inside? They will be criticized again for inviting her. That’s a reason for me not to do it. A second reason not to do it is that Glennis is simply not an interesting guest.”

Private boss Evert Santegoeds finds it striking that there is still so much resistance to Glennis. He also sees the comments people leave on social media. “Glennis is not as far back as I thought, because there is also a lot of criticism about her presence at Patty’s Panter Party,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.

Just keep going

Evert himself has already forgiven Glennis for everything. “Yes, I thought people would have forgiven her by now, but that is far from the case.”

What would he advise the singer? “Just keep going, keep singing and, above all, seek your happiness abroad, but I have advised her to do that before.”
