Cross-country skier Frida Karlsson won the Les Rousses mass start over 20 kilometers. Afterwards she talked about an ominous list.
The Swede Frida Karlsson made an impressive comeback at the weekend after her injury in the cross-country skiing World Cup. The 25-year-old won the mass start in Les Rousses (France) over 20 kilometers in classic style. The day before, she came seventh in the 10 kilometers. Following her triumph, Karlsson spoke of an ominous list.
“It’s secret,” Karlsson told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK. Accordingly, several cross-country skiers are said to have said that there was a list of athletes who could not ski well.
Karlsson’s teammate Moa Ilar said: “There are both better and worse women on the slopes.” The list serves to ensure that cross-country skiers know who they need to stay away from in order to avoid falls and bumps.
Karlsson therefore: “There are some runners who you want to avoid, especially on the downhills.” She also emphasized that it wasn’t just the Swedes who were paying close attention to who was a good runner.
The Swede Edvin Anger, for example, believes in this list and also that he is on it himself and is therefore avoided by the Norwegians, for example. “It seems clear that the Norwegians hate us. It seems that neither Klæbo nor Amundsen like me on the track. But it is what it is,” said Anger to “NRK”.
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is a five-time Olympic champion and nine-time world champion. His teammate Harald Østberg Amundsen won silver in the 15 kilometer freestyle at the 2023 Nordic World Ski Championships in Planice.
