The financial problems at the DFB are well known. Now the association has probably collected a considerable amount of money.

The sale of association-owned real estate has brought in income of over 40 million euros for the German Football Association (DFB). This is what “Sport Bild” reports. This money is primarily intended to repay loans for the construction of the new DFB campus on the site of the former horse racing track. The sale is a central part of the financial restructuring that President Bernd Neuendorf is pushing forward.

Since April 2024, several of the association’s properties in Frankfurt have been offered through a broker. These included the former DFB headquarters in the Otto-Fleck-Schneise with a parking garage, a city villa and six single- and multi-family houses in the Bockenheim district of Frankfurt. According to “Sport Bild”, a private investor won the contract for the entire package.

The income from the sale will come in handy for the DFB after years of financial problems. The association was heavily burdened by, among other things, tax affairs, the national team’s failure at the European Championships and World Cups as well as increased construction costs on the DFB campus and the consequences of the corona pandemic. The successful real estate business is intended to pave the way to a more stable financial future. Most recently, the association was able to report a profit of 4.9 million euros for the first time in two years and expects to be in the black again for the current financial year thanks to the additional income.
