On the eve of the Champions League match between PSV and Red Star Belgrade, a meeting took place between both groups of supporters on Monday evening, according to Serbian media. Torches were thrown and fighting took place in the center of the city. PSV fans who were in a bar were advised not to go outside because of the threatening situation.

Images circulating on social media show fireworks being thrown back and forth. Police who are on the scene in a police car appear to have to flee themselves.

PSV fans sitting in a pub were told that Serbian supporters were walking around outside with knives and iron bars. “Someone at the entrance started shouting that we were not allowed to go out,” said a supporter present.

Previous threats
Previously, messages from Serbian fans could be read on social media in which they ‘challenged’ the PSV fans to walk around the city.

PSV has designated a central point in the city for Tuesday afternoon where, according to the club, supporters can gather safely. A group of supporters are also organizing a private party in a pub. 400 PSV fans can enter there. In total, around 2,000 PSV supporters are expected in Belgrade.
