Tooske Ragas wonders what is suddenly going on with Carice van Houten, who has suddenly become quite media shy. “She really seems to be avoiding the spotlight a bit now.”

Halina Reijn, celebrated for her American success, was back in her own country yesterday to receive the Rutger Hauer Award. The actress and director was surrounded by friends at the event, including her ex-partner Daniël de Ridder. In the audience she was flanked by Hadewych Minis and Carice van Houten.

Carice in the corner

Shownieuws was there with a camera crew, but it was impossible to talk to Carice. Very strange, thinks Tooske Ragas. “All her friends were there. Carice van Houten was also there. It looks a bit like that… It is precisely where Halina enters the spotlight that Carice seems to avoid it.”

Eline de Ruig, the show expert on duty, agrees. She answers in the show section: “She doesn’t really like looking for them, no. She was also really… She actually hid in a corner and didn’t want to speak to the press.”

‘Unfortunately not’

It was clear that Carice did not want to talk to the show press, according to Eline. “Unfortunately we couldn’t speak to her. That would have been nice, but no, and unfortunately Guy Pearce, her husband, was not there either, but he did recently give a very striking interview in The Guardian. He has made some strange statements.”

“For example, the question was asked: ‘Who or what is the greatest love of your life?’ Then it would be nice if you answered Carice if you were together with her, but no, he says: ‘My ex-wife Kate was the greatest love of my life, but I am now over her and the greatest love of my life is now…’ You would think: Carice, but no: ‘Monty!’ Their son.”

Skip

Private boss Evert Santegoeds finds that very strange. “Then you really skip someone, yes.”

Maybe Carice didn’t want to answer questions about that. “That’s silly, yes. Then the question is also asked how often he and Carice have sex. He says: ‘Well, that’s actually very little’, because he sleeps a lot in the room with his son, because then he sleeps a little better.”

Tooske is surprised: “Does he or his son sleep better?”

Eline: “Then his son will sleep a little better, but maybe he will too, you don’t know!”
