A large crane removes plants such as mahogany, boxthorn, bird cherry and rugose rose. “These alien species do not belong here and threaten our native flora,” said Reinhardt Strubbe, project coordinator of Life Dunias. “We have rare protected species here such as the wet dune violet, the natterjack toad and the tree frog, which are under pressure from the invasive plants.”
