There is currently too much competition for Dave Kwakman at AZ. The 20-year-old Volendammer now often sees Jordy Clasie, Peer Koopmeiners and Sven Mijnans acting in midfield. AZ coach Maarten Martens also has Kees Smit, Zico Buurmeester and Kristijan Belic at his disposal.
This season, Kwakman played five times in the competition, twice as a starter. In 2023 he won the UEFA Youth League with AZ and scored in the Argentine stadium La Bombonera, in the battle for the World Cup against Boca Juniors.
Kwakman may make his debut for FC Groningen this weekend. The current number fifteen in the rankings will then compete at home against SC Heerenveen.
