The airports in New Orleans are already arguing about who will be allowed to land the Swift jet if they want to go to the Super Bowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs – the team where Swift’s friend Travis Kelce works as a tight end – are just one game away from their next destination. If the team wins the next crucial game, they will be able to take part in the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans. And Taylor Swift would probably be there again to support her friend – like last year when she watched the game from a box in Las Vegas. But behind the scenes there is already trouble that has little to do with football per se – because the airports in and around New Orleans are already fighting over who could receive Taylor Swift.
Tensions at the airports
If you want to fly in a private jet for the Super Bowl, you have to plan this venture well in advance. Airport spaces are strictly limited and you often have to secure a space months in advance. There were some bottlenecks at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas last year. At that time, around 1,200 private jets reportedly landed on the 400 seats.
In New Orleans, the situation for this year’s Super Bowl is similarly tense. Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, located just outside the city, is the region’s largest airport. There is also the New Orleans Lakefront Airport, which is primarily used for private aircraft, as well as several smaller airports in the surrounding area. And this is exactly where the trouble starts. Everyone wants the Swift jet to land with them – if it lands.
A real competition for the landing spot for Swift is said to have broken out, because everyone wants to win over Swift and the media hype that comes with it. As “Bild” reports, several airports have already contacted the pop icon’s management and guaranteed the 35-year-old a landing spot. Who wins?
Does Swift already have a favorite?
But Swift apparently already has a favorite: Lakefront Airport, where she also landed for her tour in 2024. In addition, the airport is only a fifteen-minute drive from Caesars Superdome Stadium, where the Super Bowl will take place.
But before Swift can decide which location she is targeting for her flight on February 9th, the Kansas City Chiefs first have to decide the upcoming playoffs – and then the singer can also plan her trip to New Orleans and the dispute between the airports can be shelved.
