In January, influencer and podcast host Sergey Hilman was the victim of an armed robbery in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Hilman was stabbed during the robbery.
Hilman tells the whole robbery story The Real Guys in the new episode of the podcast. Hilman met during his trip Joseto a man named He says that he exchanged contact information with the man and agreed to meet. The man asked Hilman to visit him in the village and Hilman agreed.
Hilman took a taxi to Jose’s place. According to Hilman, the distance was about 600 meters. He met Jose at the agreed place outside.
– There were two houses outside and stairs down. We hug, he grabs me and we walk down the stairs. I can see with the side eye that some guy is a bit like pissing on it. Of course I don’t pay attention to anything, Hilman says in the episode.
Jose took a tighter grip on Hilman and the bystanders turn. One of the men had a knife and stabbed Hilman in several places on the body.
– I startle and drop my phone. They take my phone. Then two more guys come, there were four of them. Another hits a sharp blow to the back and I fell to the ground because it hurt. One starts hitting me and one of the men holds my mouth shut so I don’t scream.
– Jose was one of these people and robbers. He held me and said don’t scream. I look up and there is a gun in front of me. He had a rifle. In that moment I was like: “Please”. He was holding a rifle in both hands and he looked like he was ready to shoot.
Hilman says in the podcast that he lost a lot of blood. The robbers forced Hilman to open his phone and give all his information. The robbers also dragged Hilman down the stairs.
– They heard someone’s voice and started running at full speed. I get up and run back up the highway. I started running at full speed and shouted: “help”.

Hilman found the guard’s booth, but didn’t get help from the guard. The guard got angry because Hilman’s blood stained the floor of the guard booth. Finally, one of the guards called the police and an ambulance and Hilman got help.
Hilman asked that the authorities take him back to his lodgings. He wanted to close his account and other services as soon as possible. However, the robbers managed to take all of Hilman’s social media user accounts, e-mails, identification documents and money from credit cards. In the episode, Hilman tells that the robbers also shopped online for several hundred euros of various products.
– It doesn’t matter, but I didn’t want them to fool my loved ones, for example my mother, who doesn’t necessarily realize that it’s not me, Hilman says in the podcast.
Hilman says that he downplayed the situation to his loved ones so that they would not worry. Hilman especially told his mother an embellished version of the situation.
– I was ashamed that I have been so close to terrible things. Mom is always so worried about me.
Hilman says that he has received contacts from the robbers several days after the robbery. The robbers have also tried to hijack Hilman’s email accounts again. Hilman says that he is going to therapy as a result of the incident. Because of the robbery, Hilman has become afraid of guns.
– I can’t even look at guns in the movies, Hilma sums up.
Hilman previously said on social media that he received stab wounds on both his hands and his back.
