2025 still without a point

Despite three defeats at the start of the new football year, Gladbach’s sports director Roland Virkus remains optimistic. “It’s not a broken leg. We said the first three games would be difficult games,” said Virkus after the 1:3 in the Bundesliga duel at champions Bayer Leverkusen. “You’re not happy with defeat. But it’s about the manner.”

The 58-year-old was particularly positive about his defensive performance despite zero points from the last three games. “If you do so well defensively against an absolute top opponent, you can actually be very satisfied. The problem is that every small mistake is punished against such a top team.” The team acted “much better” defensively against the double winner than against Wolfsburg (1:5) and Bayern Munich (0:1).

Left winger Robin Hack doesn’t despair either. “I think we are mentally strong and definitely have something up our sleeves so that we can turn things around and not fall into any depths,” said the 26-year-old. “It’s unfortunate, of course, but we had it the same way in the first half of the season,” added Hack. “And now we’re looking forward and making sure we get points again in the next games.” Borussia has their next chance next Saturday against VfL Bochum.

Borussia Mönchengladbach longer without a fee

The foals will once again have to do without driver Franck Honorat (28), who missed the first three games of the year. “Franck will be out for a longer period of time, that’s a fact. He won’t be able to play against Bochum on Saturday, nor against VfB Stuttgart the week after. How long he will be out overall is speculation at this point,” explained Virkus, who specified that the injury was a hairline crack in the outer foot.

“And that just takes time. The foot must now be relieved of pressure. That’s why he’s currently wearing a special shoe. But it would be speculative to say that he will be out for eight weeks, seven or how long – we cannot predict it with the best will in the world,” Virkus continued. “You have to see how the hairline crack grows together. Callus must now form in the affected area. That’s why there are further investigations. And then you can estimate – roughly – how long it will take.”
