3:3 after 3:0: Leipzig really collapsed in Bochum in the second half. The coach was correspondingly annoyed – and he chose clear words in the analysis.
After a clear 3-0 lead at the break, everything looked like an easy rest of the afternoon for the Leipzig native in the second half. But Rose’s protégés collapsed completely and allowed themselves to be played against the wall by the bottom of the table from the Ruhr area. The result: a 3:3 at the final whistle.
“Life goes on and yet we are very disappointed today. We got off to an excellent start, then Bochum changed, it became a little more difficult, but that wasn’t a problem until the break,” Rose explained to Sky.
Then he added, visibly annoyed: “For me, in the end it’s about the fact that we often act too naively and carelessly jeopardize our goals.” He then explained that there were some young games there.
But Rose didn’t want to leave it at that. The coach followed up unequivocally: “As far as the topic of carelessness is concerned: for me it’s a question of professionalism and attitude.”
After a win, a defeat and a draw in Bochum in 2025, the ambitious Leipzig team are in fifth place in the Bundesliga. What is noticeable this season: sometimes extremely fluctuating performances. However, Rose has not yet criticized his team as clearly as he did after the game on Saturday.
It remains to be seen whether the clear words will shake up the team. Leipzig’s next games next week will be in the Champions League against Sporting Lisbon (Wednesday, from 6:45 p.m. in the live ticker from t-online) and in the Bundesliga against champions Bayer Leverkusen (Saturday, from 3:30 p.m. in the live ticker from t -on-line).
