The fire brigade in Drenthe is almost always on site within fifteen minutes of a report. In 96 percent of the neighborhoods the attendance time is ‘sufficient’ or ‘good’. This is evident from the coverage plan of the Drenthe Safety Region (VRD).

The response time of the fire brigade is calculated and substantiated in the coverage plan. The last time such a document was drawn up was in 2013. Compared to then, the attendance time has ‘improved across the board’, the VRD notes. The fire brigade is present within 15 minutes in 96 percent of the buildings.

In 2013, attendance time was determined using a different method. This determined the theoretical emergence time for each object. Based on that model, a fire crew would need fifteen minutes or less to arrive in 80 percent of the cases.

Although the comparison is not entirely one-to-one with 2013, according to the VRD it can be concluded that the current attendance time has generally improved. The so-called points of interest, where the attendance standard is under pressure, are spread across the province and do not differ significantly compared to 2013.

One of the spearheads is improving fire safety in certain buildings. In particular, locations where people receive and are dependent on care, such as nursing homes, are given priority. The VRD wants to make people aware of this through information.

The fire brigade in Drenthe has 36 fire stations. There is one 24-hour service, in Emmen, and a day service from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm in Assen. The other posts work on a voluntary basis and local agreements to be ready where necessary.
