The Saudi Arabia chapter is coming to an end for Brazilian superstar Neymar.
The 32-year-old offensive star was not registered for the second half of the Saudi Pro League and apparently no longer plays a role in Al-Hilal’s plans. Coach Jorge Jesus announced this at a press conference on Friday.
“Neymar is no longer at the level we are used to. Unfortunately, things have become difficult for him,” said Jesus. Neymar, whose contract expires in the summer, moved to the Saudi record champions in the summer of 2023 for 90 million euros.
Since then, Neymar has only made seven appearances for Al-Hilal, partly because he was out for a long time due to injury. From October 2023, a torn cruciate ligament forced him to take a break of almost a year, and most recently he was unable to play due to thigh problems.
What Neymar’s sporting future looks like is unclear. Neymar, whose contract ends at the end of the season, is said to have attracted interest from several Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs.
