The team of German national player Antonio Rüdiger fought their way into the quarter-finals against outsiders Celta Vigo with a 5:2 (2:2, 1:0) after extra time. However, the Champions League winner was only partially able to make amends for the Supercup disgrace he had hoped for.
Endrick redeems Real
Real coach Carlo Ancelotti was only able to breathe a sigh of relief after Madrid’s decisive goals from his substitutes Endrick (108th minute and 119th minute) and Federico Valverde (112th minute). The champions had previously given up a supposedly reassuring 2-0 lead in the final phase of regular time thanks to goals from superstars Kylian Mbappé (37th) and Vinicius Junior (48th) due to inexplicable negligence.

Barca with an easy victory

Three days earlier, Flick and his team had won the Spanish Supercopa against Real Madrid (5:2).
