Since May 2021, the man is said to have been in contact with several girls between the ages of 9 and 13 via Snapchat, an app that allows you to send photos and videos to your contacts. There, the suspect posed as a minor using a fake account.

He asked the girls via the app to perform ‘sexual acts’ on themselves and to adopt sexual poses. The man created child pornography from the videos and photos they sent.

Dozens of victims

It is not clear exactly how many victims the man had contact with, but there may have been dozens. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the 50-year-old suspect is in any case in possession of child pornography of at least fourteen underage girls.

He is also suspected of showing pornographic images to seven minors. It is not yet known how he did this.

The man was arrested early last year after parents of one of the victims filed a report. He has been in custody ever since. He has so far confessed all the facts and says he is ashamed of his actions.

Research

The Public Prosecution Service is still investigating the case. In the near future they will have a so-called ‘triple examination’ carried out on him: he will be examined by a psychiatrist, a psychologist and an environmental rapporteur. The latter looks at the background and course of the suspect’s life.

Justice hopes that the man will be able to appear in court shortly after the next hearing in mid-April.
