Next turning point in contract poker

The crucial talks should take place this week to clarify the future of Alphonso Davies. The first point of contact was FC Bayern, where the 24-year-old is under contract until the summer. Although all signs recently pointed to extensions, there are now some signs of a new turnaround in poker – that’s what Sky reported on Thursday.
According to the TV station, further negotiations took place on Wednesday between Davies, his advisor Nick Huoseh and Bavaria’s sports director Max Eberl. Instead of a rapprochement, a new problem arose. The players’ side suddenly set salary demands at more than 20 million euros per year – significantly more than the club was willing to pay.
The top earner in the Bayern squad is currently Harry Kane with a rumored 24 million euros per year. Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané are behind with 20 million euros, Jamal Musiala should also move into this category in the event of the extension currently being negotiated. Davies, on the other hand, was actually supposed to stay well behind at 14 to 15 million euros, but now appears to have rejected this offer and surprised and angered the Bayern bosses with the new demand.
According to “Sky”, it is therefore not unlikely that the Bayern bosses will proactively withdraw from poker and let the player go. In this case, Real Madrid would once again have the best cards. The Royals have been mentioned several times in the past as favorites to sign him on a free transfer and are said to have significantly intensified their efforts to secure the left-back since the beginning of the year. It is quite possible that the new demand can be justified by the certainty of receiving a well-paid contract in Madrid.

After a dip in form in 2023/24, Davies is again one of the top performers at FC Bayern in the current season. The 56-time national player was in coach Vincent Kompany’s starting line-up in 14 of 17 Bundesliga games and 5 of 6 Champions League games. The TM users rewarded him for his performance by being chosen for the team for the first half of the season.
