The US retail group Urban Outfitters Inc. set a new sales record in the recently ended Christmas business. According to an interim report published on Monday, sales in November and December exceeded the corresponding previous year’s level by ten percent.

In the retail segment, sales rose by six percent on a comparable basis. Growth in the Anthropologie (+10 percent) and Free People (+9 percent) divisions more than offset losses in the Urban Outfitters retail chain (-4 percent).

Sales in the Nuuly segment, which includes the group’s fashion rental service and second-hand business, increased by 55 percent. In the wholesale business, sales increased by 29 percent thanks to strong growth for the Free People brand.

In the first eleven months of the current 2024/25 financial year, which lasts until the end of January, group sales were seven percent higher than in the same period last year.
