The Finnish clothing brand Samuji is closing down.
The clothing brand Samuji announced today, Wednesday, that it is closing its operations.
– Although we have tried to navigate the ever-changing world, the time has come to close Samuji’s doors, at least for the time being. Samuj’s business will end in the spring of 2025. The current market conditions, rising production costs and the weakening of consumers’ purchasing power have made it impossible for us to continue, says Samuj’s website.
The brick-and-mortar store located on Helsinki’s Liisankatu will close its doors for good in February. The online store will remain in operation until spring. The sell-out has started both in the store and in the online store.
Samuj was founded by a designer Samu-Jussi Koski in 2009. The company has been in trouble before, but has so far been saved. In 2019, it was saved with the help of crowdfunding. In 2021, Samuji went bankrupt and was bought by the Nosh Company, which announced its filing for corporate reorganization last week. The last chief designer was Anne-Mari Pahkala.
