A group of about seventy Willem II supporters are not welcome at the home match against AZ on Sunday, February 2. The KS79 group is held responsible by the club for a fireworks incident on December 22 against NEC. By imposing this penalty, the Eredivisie player hopes to avoid a penalty from the KNVB, such as an empty stand.
During the last home game of 2024 against NEC, dozens of torches were lit in the initial phase on the KingSide, the stand behind the goal with fanatical supporters. The referee decided to temporarily stop the match due to the smoke development. After investigating the fireworks incident, Willem II ended up with the supporters group KS79.

The KS79 group is not welcome at the match against AZ. The tickets are not transferable to other supporters. No expressions of the group may also be visible in the King Willem II Stadium. If the group is involved in an incident again in the future, the punishment will be extended to two home games.

General manager Merijn Goris says on the club website that the initiators of the campaign were quickly identified. “By imposing a penalty on this group, we hope to protect well-intentioned supporters from a larger collective punishment. We continue to emphasize: fireworks do not belong in the stadium. It results in fines for the club and possible collective punishment for fellow supporters. Together we want a full Kingside, not an empty stand like earlier this year against Sparta.”
