Marvin Wanitzek predicted the 17th matchday of the Bundesliga for Transfermarkt. The captain of second division club Karlsruher SC expects Borussia Dortmund to have a safe away win at Holstein Kiel despite defensive concerns. The midfielder also believes that the favorites will win further on Tuesday. He assumes that champions Bayer Leverkusen will beat surprise team Mainz 05 and thus end their winning streak of three games in a row and that Eintracht Frankfurt will have the upper hand against SC Freiburg. If Wanitzek has his way, there will only be one away win at the end of the first half of the season and five home wins.

The 31-year-old is betting, among other things, on a three-pointer from bottom-placed VfL Bochum. According to Wanitzek, the Hecking team won 2-1 in the duel against FC St. Pauli and is therefore the only team that can score points in the bottom of the table on the last matchday of the first half of the season. VfL would thus overtake Kiel. TSG Hoffenheim, where Wanitzek played in his youth, also remains in danger of relegation after a 3-0 defeat at FC Bayern. VfB Stuttgart, another former club of the KSC professional, and RB Leipzig, who split in a draw, have nothing to do with the bottom half of the table.
