Max Hopp returns to the professional darts tour. But the former junior world champion is not the only German who was able to cheer at the Q-School in Kalkar.
Max Hopp played his way into the round of 16 on the last day of this year’s Q-School. The “Maximiser” thus collected his sixth point in total for the ranking, which he finished among the best twelve participants in Kalkar.
Hopp receives the tour card, which is valid for two years and, among other things, entitles him to take part in the 34 Players Championship tournaments every season.
Max Hopp reports back
The 28-year-old lost his tour card after the 2022 darts season and was initially unable to get it back. Now came the sporting redemption in Q-School, which gave Hopp new impetus to his career.
The right-hander has celebrated several successes at the PDC in the past. Hopp made his debut in the “Ally Pally” at the 2013 Darts World Cup at the age of 16, and in 2015 he was crowned junior world champion.
The Hesse native had his best season on the PDC tour in 2018. At that time, Hopp won a tournament on both the Pro Tour and the European Tour and thus wrote German darts history. In the same year the “Maximiser” reached the semi-finals at the European Darts Championship.
German darts quintet masters the Q-School
In addition to Hopp, four other German darts players were able to secure the tour card in Kalkar. World Cup participant Kai Gotthardt made everything clear early with his day’s victory on Friday. Dominik Grüllich, Maximilian Czerwinski and Leon Weber followed Hopp up the rankings.
Twelve Germans will be playing on the PDC tour this year – a record!
Martin Schindler, Gabriel Clemens, Ricardo Pietreczko, Florian Hempel, Niko Springer, Tim Wolters and Lukas Wenig had secured their place on the tour and did not have to go to Q-School.
