Volley Menen has had an excellent start to the new year. Last Wednesday it won in Aalst and yesterday it had to visit seasonal revelation Tectum Achel. The home team won the first set, but then Menen advanced to a 1-3 victory. The West Flemish people are doing an excellent job in the battle for the top 4.
Competition leader Roeselare had a lot more difficulty with Haasrode Leuven, without injured main attacker Dermaux eventually won 2-3 after an exciting five-setter: 19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23 and 14-16. In the last set, Leuven even led 13-10 at the end, but in the end the West Flemish team still took the win.
Maaseik, which has to chase this season, does what it had to and left nothing behind when visiting Ghent: 0-3 (16-25, 23-25, 22-25)
With 32 points from fourteen games, Roeselare remains alone in the lead, with three points more than Menen and Achel. Maaseik is fourth with 26 points.
