Saudi interest too

Full-back Kyle Walker was missing from the squad for Manchester City’s 8-0 win against fourth division side Salford on Saturday evening. The 34-year-old veteran, who recently only made short appearances in the league, is apparently about to say goodbye to the Skyblues. When asked, coach Pep Guardiola confirmed Walker’s desire to leave the club. According to reports, AC Milan is considered a potential buyer.

“This isn’t easy for me right now and maybe I shouldn’t tell you this, but he’s not here. Two days ago he asked to explore options for a foreign transfer,” Guardiola explained on the sidelines of the cup game when asked about the absence of the 93-time England international. “He asked us that before after our triple win in 2023. At that time, FC Bayern wanted him, but their offer wasn’t good enough,” the Spaniard continued, adding: “I’d rather let players play who are here with their heads.”

Walker, whose market value was recently reduced to 10 million euros, still has a contract with the Skyblues until 2026. Guardiola has not given up the hope that he could still fulfill this despite recent events. “He asked us if he could look into transfer options. That doesn’t automatically mean that he will leave, because you never know what will happen.” However, if a change in the defender becomes concrete in the short term, the coach can accept this decision: “I am more than grateful for what he has done has done for us over these many years.”

Manchester City: Kyle Walker moving to AC Milan?

A potential buyer seems to be emerging in the traditional Italian club AC Milan. According to consistent reports, Walker and the Rossoneri are in discussions about a possible commitment. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Italians are also speculating that the Skyblues could let their deserving defender go for free. As was the case last summer, Saudi Arabian clubs are still interested in a transfer of the Englishman.
