National goalkeeper Alexander Nübel still believes in a future at FC Bayern, but can also imagine a move to another club. “Of course my goal is to become number one there,” said the goalkeeper, who is on loan from Munich to VfB Stuttgart until 2026, in the “kicker FE:male” podcast. “Of course I want to assert myself there.” But there are also other good clubs in Europe.
He is a “patient person” and “relatively relaxed” about the whole issue, explained Nübel. Manuel Neuer’s contract with Bayern expires at the end of the season. An extension for another year is reportedly considered a formality. Nübel’s contract in Munich is dated until 2029.

“If Manuel extends now, which I assume he will, we will see whether we come together in 2026, Bayern Munich and I,” said Nübel. “Or whether we then say it will be something different. I’m not stuck with one club.”
Nübel is currently completely satisfied at VfB Stuttgart
Nübel feels very comfortable at VfB, which starts the Bundesliga again on Sunday (5:30 p.m./DAZN) against FC Augsburg. “It’s great to play here,” said the 28-year-old. The former Schalke player has been wearing the Stuttgart jersey since summer 2023, was runner-up with them last season and is now playing in the Champions League. He was happy “how it went and how things are going at the moment.”
