BRUSSELS – The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has been in hospital for about a week being treated for severe pneumonia. A spokesperson for the European Commission confirmed this. Until Friday, not a word was said about this, while journalists regularly asked questions about the health of the 66-year-old committee chairman. Spokespeople only said that Von der Leyen had severe pneumonia.
