Shirin David remains one of the most successful and polarizing figures in German rap. Shortly before the release of her third studio album SCHLAU BBER BLOND on January 31st, the artist presents her latest single “Atzen & Barbies”. Together with Ski Aggu, she relies on a mixture of opposites and danceable beats.

Shirin David and Ski Aggu introduced the track for the first time at their New Year’s Eve performance at the Brandenburg Gate. The reactions from both fan camps were largely positive. “Atzen & Barbies” addresses the connection between supposedly incompatible worlds – a concept that has often been reflected in David’s previous texts. Musically, the song stays in the vein of her previous productions: striking wordplay meets poppy, club-friendly beats, arranged by her long-standing producer team around LAAS and The Cratez.

The single fits seamlessly into the releases that David presented in the run-up to her new album. After “Bauch Beine Po” and “Küss mich Doch” it is already clear that SCHLAU BUT BLOND leans more towards pop than their previous albums SUPERSIZE and BITCHES NAUCHEN RAP. With a loyal fan base behind it, the album could become another commercial success.
