In the latest episode of her podcast “Miss Me?”, which she has been running with Miquita Oliver since March 2024 Lily Allen Open up about how bad things are mentally at the moment.
On Thursday (January 9), Oliver and Allen released a new episode of their podcast. In “The Reverse Coupar” episode, the two Brits initially joke around, talk about their vacations and New Year’s resolutions and are happy together for Demi Moore’s win at the Golden Globes. However, halfway through the 31-minute episode, Allen gets serious and opens up to her friend (and podcast listeners) to talk about her mental health.
Lily Allen admits: “I tried…”
“I didn’t see Demi Moore’s speech. I actually didn’t watch any of the Golden Globes. “I’m not that interested in that,” Allen says, steering the conversation away from the Golden Globes. Confused, Oliver asks and the “LDN” interpreter finally unpacks.
The 39-year-old openly admits that she can’t be interested in anything at the moment and that she’s not in a good shape. “I know, I’ve been talking about this for months, but I’ve gotten deeper and deeper into a vortex and it’s completely out of control,” Allen begins, “I tried… I mean, I came to the ‘Miss Me? ‘-Christmas dinner, had a panic attack and had to go home. Or recently I was at a play with my friends Carla and Claire and I had to leave halfway through.”
False rumors about relapse into drug addiction
The singer continues: “I can’t focus on anything other than the pain I’m experiencing. And that is really, really hard.” Allen explains that she will disappear for a while starting the following week. She also addressed the listeners directly and explained that they probably wouldn’t hear her for a while. In the same breath, the singer also states that she is not going to a rehabilitation clinic. The Brit has had problems with drugs in her past, but she explains that she has not relapsed. The 39-year-old has been sober for five years, as “The Guardian” reports.
She also talks about absurd rumors that are circulating online, which make her conversation partner Oliver gasp. “There have been some terrible rumors on the internet about me being found by my husband in a crack den surrounded by men,” says Allen, eliciting a stunned snort from Oliver, “I don’t know who’s spreading these nasty rumors, but that is not true.”
Miquita Oliver confirms she will continue the podcast in Lily Allen’s absence.
