The eternal indie prides continue exactly where they left off a few years ago.
You have to give it to Franz Ferdinand: Hardly any other band has such a high recognition value. After two bars it is already clear who is at work here. Alex Kapranos’ sexy male voice is also always a first-class listen. Well, after a break of six years a new album. It currently has THE title THE HUMAN FEAR, but deals with the distortions and fear scenarios of our day with distance and humor.
The first track “Andalicious” scores with Queen elements and the quotation continues throughout eleven tracks. “Everydreamer” is reminiscent of the good times of the Scissor Sisters, “Hooked” takes over the entire beginning of Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Bag” one-to-one, although one
The question arises as to whether this didn’t happen by chance. The familiar driving force in this music is still there, and why not, it works. Overall, the album is hit and miss, but in the middle of demands and innovation, which means: everything as always. Electro plays a bigger role now, but one would slowly wish for different tricks and tones.
In “Cats” it says: “You love no one and everyone at the same time.” This could also be the motto of the album: somehow it doesn’t get to the point, doesn’t want to commit itself with its clumsiness and all the fluffy end rhymes, Just tap the hot iron briefly and then release it again. The band doesn’t want to disappoint their fans or overwhelm them. That’s understandable and okay, but it’s a little boring.
