Comedian Ismo Leikola left his home in Los Angeles because of the raging wildfires. He published a video on his Instagram account, Finnish time, on Thursday morning, where the flames are raging in California, USA.
Iltalehti reached Leikola Suomen time on Thursday evening. He had spent last night at a friend’s house in the East, but is now returning to his apartment, near the Hollywood Hills area.
Leikola had received the reassuring news from her neighbor that her home should still be standing.
– I’m driving towards such heavy fog. This is probably the “Eaton fire” that I’m about to pass by. This road is completely covered in smoke a little way ahead, Leikola describes from the road.
“The hill burned, the house didn’t”, updated Ismo Leikola to Iltalehti Finnish time on Thursday evening. Ismo Leikola
– Now I’m in a good mood, because it seems that the house there hasn’t burned down.
So far, Leikola has not seen her home with her own eyes, but believes that everything is in order. However, ash and smoke will likely dominate the landscape.
– I don’t feel like starting to celebrate here, when quite a lot of people have lost everything. One guy’s house burned to the ground.
He later confirmed to Iltalehti that his house is spared and intact.
– The hill has burned, the house has not, Leikola updated the situation in his neighborhood.
Leikola is also thinking about whether the insurance companies in the area will go bankrupt, because the damage is so huge.

When Leikola left her home earlier, according to her, the situation was like a “disaster movie”.
– The roads were full of smoke, it was hard to breathe, the roads were full of cars and traffic jams, because everyone was trying to get in the same direction.
According to Leikola, the lines of cars didn’t move for about 20 minutes, so he already had time to think about whether he should start the journey on foot. He says he saw the flames from the car window.
– I left in a hurry yesterday, and I didn’t have time to take much with me. Of course, I could get the things I bought again, but I would hate to lose the old notebooks and hard drives, Leikola thinks.
He says that he collected computers and hard drives, as well as a guitar, among other things.
– I had just come here from Finland, in that sense it was easy to leave when I hadn’t even had time to unpack everything. I was waiting for you to get home, but then I had to go to the emergency room right away, Leikola says.
– Fortunately, the home still exists, he sighs.
He had also managed to market to his friends that he could stay at his place, because people were evacuated from other areas as well.
– It only took a couple of hours, then I had to leave myself, he says.
