There have already been five fatalities in the six wildfires that threaten the Los Angeles metropolitan area in California. More than 100,000 people have been called to evacuate. The strong winds make the fire difficult to extinguish and it continues to spread. The region, where there is now a threat of a (fire) water shortage due to the extensive fire-fighting activities, has been declared a disaster area by President Joe Biden. Biden has promised the governor of California military aid to assist the fire brigade and help with the looming water shortage.
