Season over for biathlon star Vittozzi

Last season went perfectly for them. In this one it looks completely different. Now Lisa Vittozzi has to accept the next setback.
Italian biathlete Lisa Vittozzi expressed her emotions with a single emoji. The 29-year-old posted a statement on Instagram about a red heart that was taped with a bandage. Because: She will miss the entire season because of back problems.
A statement from the Italian Winter Sports Federation (Fisi) said: “We have decided not to force my return to competition in order not to take any additional risks and not to jeopardize the next few months of training.” Full attention is now focused on long-term preparation for the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Vittozzi continued. The games are the “real goal of this four-year cycle”.
The biathlete has not yet been used this season. Due to her back problems, she missed the start in Finland and then the races in France. Three weeks ago she wrote on Instagram: “I’m doing my best so I can do what I love again.”
In the preseason, Vittozzi celebrated her greatest successes to date. She won the big crystal ball for the overall World Cup for the first time and became individual world champion in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic). Before this season, she was actually one of the favorites for the yellow jersey, which the German Franziska Preuß currently wears.
