Willem Vossebeld is the new faction chairman of the BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) in Drenthe. The 57-year-old Coevorde resident takes over from Gert-Jan Schuinder.
The BBB achieved a historic victory in Drenthe on March 15, 2023. With seventeen seats, the newcomer became the largest party in the Drenthe Parliament. A coalition was then formed together with PvdA, VVD and CDA.
Vossebeld has been closely involved with the party since the start of the BBB faction in Drenthe. He is looking forward to the role as party chairman. “I hope to give BBB Drenthe an even bigger boost and we will be even more competitive in the competition. We, as a faction, want to spread our story even more grandly and offer an honest, familiar and beautiful Drenthe for everyone.”
Fun fact: Vossebeld became world champion in 2022. On the Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria, he won the world title for tractor driving with vintage cars. His son Rick came second.
Schuinder, Vossebeld’s political predecessor, has been the leader of BBB Drenthe since November 2022. The resident of Zuidlaarderveen remains active in Drenthe politics. In a few weeks he will succeed Jisse Otter as BBB representative. “I have done this with great pleasure and I look back on a wonderful and educational period. I thank everyone for their trust.”
