Elton John celebrated Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for their work on Challengers.

Elton John presented the Best Film Music category at the Golden Globes. His reaction to the winners went viral.

Elton John is happy

Together with Brandi Carlilewith whom he wrote the song “Never Too Late” for his documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late,” he announced the winners. After making jokes about his fading eyesight Carlile introduced: “Great film music should feel as if it is inextricably linked to the picture.” The Golden Globe then went to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for their work on “Challengers” – and Elton John celebrated.

Fans are happy about the music icon’s reaction: Elton John raised both fists in the air and shouted: “Yay!”

“Legends who recognize legends,” says X under a snippet of the award ceremony. Another person writes: “I can only hope to have a fifth of that energy and enthusiasm when I’m his age.” Others describe 77-year-old Elton John as being happy for the recognition of the two musicians’ work “such a bro.” The comments also agree: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross deserve their prize.

Reznor and Ross: Multiple awards

The award for Best Film Music was the only one that “Challengers” won. The tennis drama was nominated in four categories – best comedy or musical film, Zendaya for best leading role and again Reznor and Ross together with director Luca Guadagnino for best song with “Compress/Repress”.

The artist duo’s work has been well received: So far this season, Reznor and Ross have won almost every time they have been nominated for their work at an award ceremony. “Challengers” won a total of 15 awards for its soundtrack before the Golden Globes, including from the Film Critics Associations in Kansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Columbus and Florida.

In addition, the film is nominated another thirteen times in this category at other events, including the Grammy Awards. The Oscars haven’t announced their nominees yet, but it’s not unlikely that the two Academy Award-winning musicians (in 2010 for “The Social Network” and in 2020 for “Soul”) will be on the list again. Basically, it’s obviously not just Elton John who is celebrating.
