About 45 kilos of the carcinogenic substance tetrafluoroethylene was released in gaseous form at a factory of the Dutch chemical company Chemours in Dordrecht on Monday evening due to a pipe rupture. This was reported by the Dutch environmental agency DCMR. According to emeritus professor of environmental chemistry and toxicology Jacob de Boer, it is a PFAS and is “probably quickly diluted in the air”.
