Good morning everyone and welcome to a new economics blog!
Today, Qatar Airways resumes flights to Damascus after thirteen years. It is the first airline to resume flying to the Syrian capital after more than a decade of war in Syria and sanctions against the country. Let’s hope it goes well and it is a step towards normalization and reconstruction.
Furthermore, today promises to be a day full of figures. European inflation figures are on the way, and US labor market forecasts. The CPB has calculated that Dutch inflation has remained higher than hoped. More about that later. Furthermore, it was noticed:
- Heineken is having a difficult time on the Dutch market, analyzes Het Financieele Dagblad based on confidential documents that the newspaper obtained. The brewer’s market share is shrinking.
- The US has placed the major Chinese technology company Tencent on a list of companies that would cooperate with the Chinese military. The company itself vehemently denies this.
