AC Milan have once again shown comeback qualities under new coach Sérgio Conceição and won the Italian Super Cup against city rivals Inter. Despite being 2-0 down, the Rossoneri managed a 3-2 (0-1) victory in the final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In the semi-final on Friday, Milan had already turned the game around in the second half of the 2-1 win against record champions Juventus Turin.

Milan, only eighth in the table in Serie A, managed to win against the reigning champions with goals from Theo Hernández (52nd minute), former Dortmund player Christian Pulisic (80th) and Tammy Abraham (90th + 3). Previously, Lautaro Martínez (45th + 1) and Mehdi Taremi (47th) had given Inter a 2-0 lead.

Shortly before the turn of the year, Milan replaced Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca with his compatriot Conceição, who had once scored all three goals in the 3-0 win against Germany at the 2000 European Championship. The 50-year-old celebrated the title in just his second game with a cigar in his mouth and a victory dance in the dressing room, which made him go viral on social media when he won the Portuguese championship with FC Porto in 2022.
